Las Terrenas is on the Samaná peninsula in the north-east of the country, known for its beaches (Playa Bonita, Cosón, Las Ballenas, El Portillo), its village atmosphere with European bakeries and restaurants, and a community of French, Italian and other Europeans who settled here decades ago. El Catey airport is about 30 minutes away and Santo Domingo a little over two hours by motorway.
You will find apartments and villas by the beach, hillside houses with views and plenty of land, from small lots for a house to estates for development. Between January and March humpback whales arrive in Samaná bay, which fills the area with visitors.
