What is the cost of living in the Dominican Republic?

It depends a lot on lifestyle and area. In towns like Sosúa or Puerto Plata it is usually lower than in Punta Cana, Cap Cana or upscale Santo Domingo neighborhoods. The biggest expenses tend to be housing, electricity (air conditioning adds up), private health insurance and imported goods.
